Unlike traditional methods, which require expensive lab setups, RealEye utilizes participants’ own devices, such as laptops and smartphones, to conduct studies using their webcams. This approach streamlines the process, removing the need for physical labs and enabling participants to engage from the comfort of their homes, resulting in faster data collection and analysis. Although slightly less precise than a lab setup, the platform’s accuracy is more than adequate for most eye-tracking studies, offering actionable insights at a fraction of the usual cost.

The RealEye platform features tools for comprehensive attention analysis, facial coding, reaction-time testing, and behavior tracking through mouse and keyboard interaction. Studies can be conducted on a range of stimuli, including images, videos, and websites, all through a user-friendly, web-based interface that doesn’t require any special software installation for participants. Launched in 2017, RealEye now serves a wide range of clients globally, from universities to corporations, and operates in over 25 languages.

RealEye’s three-step process covers study creation, participant data collection, and detailed analysis. Researchers can choose study types, set up stimuli, and even integrate with external panel providers or survey platforms for seamless data collection. The platform’s analysis tools include heatmaps, fixation plots, and metrics for both individual and aggregated data. Participants’ attention levels, fixation times, and facial responses can be monitored, giving researchers a granular view of how users interact with each element.

The session also highlighted RealEye’s licensing model, which allows clients flexibility to run studies on a monthly basis, including options for participant panels if needed.
